AufbisschieneSplint therapy is one of the corner stones of treating temporomandibular joint disorders. An occlusal splint - also known as a bite splint or night guard - is worn like a brace on the upper or lower jaw and has the following functions: It repositions the lower jaw, reduces overactivity of the masticatory muscles, prevents teeth from grinding and thereby relieves the temporomandibular joints.

The following types of splint are available:

•  Relaxation splint
•  Stabilisation splint
•  Decompression splint
•  Repositioning splint
•  Verticalisation splint

The splint is adjusted to the selected therapeutic position and can then relieve either one or both joints.
